Can you believe it is March? We certainly love the idea of spring being just around the corner! We’ve had a crazy week of snow and ice, so we have had to keep the boots and coats out for longer than we hoped.  Luckily last week we had some nice weather which was perfect for pulling out these new heels from Sole Society! They paired perfectly with this peplum fairisle sweater (make sure to check your local store for this as it’s super marked down!), classic white blouse and skinny jeans - all from The Limited. I finished off the look with this versatile necklace from Stella&Dot (new version here!) and Coach Legacy Haley satchel.

Happy Wednesday!

Hello Lovely Readers~

Today’s feature is about the wearing the boyfriend jean trend. This is one of my favorite weekend looks for running errands because it’s so comfortable. I chose to pair my jeans (The Limited, also in petities now!) with a semi-slouchy sweater, and a pendant necklace (Stella&Dot). A leather satchel and suede booties add the finishing touch to this on-the-go look.

Have you tried the boyfriend jean look? What are your favorite pairings?

Hello Lovely Readers~

Today I’m excited to talk about wearing printed coats! This is such a stylish, yet easy go-to look when in a hurry to get ready. Just pick out your favorite pair of denim or neutral colored ankle pants and top, then layer with a printed jacket and top it off with a statement necklace. Voila! You are out the door in no time, all while looking comforatbly chic! I picked up this jacket during a fabulous sale last year at Macy’s. It’s quickly become one of my favorites. While it’s not longer available, we’ve included some other fabulous printed car coats below.

Metallic Jacquard + Cranberry: Date Night with W

Hello Lovely Readers!

While the holidays are over, that doesn’t mean you have to put away all glitter and sparkle!  I love mixing metallic pieces, like these fabulous jacquard pants from LOFT, with monochromatic pieces to add a more casual vibe.  For this date night outfit I used a simple black button down and suede heels to tone down the outfit.  I’m always a sucker for cropped pants, so when I saw these at LOFT last month on sale, I had to get them.  I look forward to mixing them with cobalt - as well as magenta!  At the moment they are sold out online, but make sure to check the sale racks at your local store as there may still be some left.

Hope everyone has as fabulous weekend!

Claire and The Cradle Coach: Helping Your Baby Get The Sleep They Need

February 4, 2014

Hello Lovely Readers~

Today I’m excited to share a post about baby sleep (or lack thereof)! That is until we found out about the The Cradle Coach. Here is our little story:

Claire was about to turn 3 months old and our sleep issues were starting to take a toll. I know babies need lots of sleep and eat often. For those readers who may not know, I have worked as a Registered Dietitian for the WIC (Women, Infants and Children) program for about 8 years. I have talked to thousands of parents over the years about pediatric nutrition, breastfeeding, formula issues, constipation, etc. You name it, I’ve probably heard it! But, nothing could have prepared me for the lack of sleep. I actually was more worried about Claire not getting enough sleep than myself. Was I exhausted? Yes, but I thought how could my 12 week old baby go an entire day without a nap or only sleep while being held?!?

Our night routine was decent, waking 1-2 times to nurse. But, the day time was another story. She would fall asleep during a feeding, but if I’d set her down to nap, she would wake up…every single time. Our whole day was set around constant feedings and me trying to have her nap. It was sheer craziness!

That’s when I saw a post from a fellow blogger (Lynzy) about her daughter Olivia and The Cradle Coach! Little Olivia is about 2 weeks older than Claire, and I was intrigued to read about her sleeping improvements and for the first time felt some hope! I immediately scheduled a phone consultation with Melissa (She is out of  Florida). We spent time talking about our day-to-day schedule and what I was most worried about (naps!– as well as other topics that would help put together the whole picture of life with little miss Claire.

I then kept a three day log for Melissa to analyze, so she could design a schedule based off Claire’s natural nap tendencies and wake up times. After I submitted that, we did a phone training to go through the in’s and out’s of the new schedule that she designed. We decided to work with an 8am to 8pm plan, with 3-4 naps during the day.

I was beyond excited that day one Claire started doing better! Our order of events for the day are: sleep, eat, play and repeat. Prior to the Cradle Coach, I had no order for anything we did. It was craziness, and the days and nights all blended together bound by constant feedings and cat naps while I held her. So, that first one hour nap she took in her own room was such a relief!

All in all, I’m SO pleased with all the help and guidance I received from Melissa. She is super sweet and willing to tailor the schedule based on what type of “sleep training” you are most comfortable with. We chose a very “light” method because I wanted to blend attachment parenting due to Claire being a semi high needs baby.  Though she is our sweetheart, she needs constant attention and entertainment when not asleep.

She also offers different “support” packages on the number of days that she will provide back up support while you are transitioning schedules. I would highly recommend her if your family has a little one that needs help with more normal nap and sleep habits.

It was made world of difference for our family!
