Hello Lovely Readers~

Here’s the scoop on my maternity shopping from the last few months. Each month I set aside part of my shopping/beauty budget to purchase a few maternity items. As you can see, I’ve mainly shopped at Gap, Old Navy and Loft. These are the most affordable retailers when shopping with a baby bump!  Old Navy/Gap offer free returns, which is great.  A few local Old Navy stores have maternity items, but found the stock to be pretty picked over and very random from one store to the next. We don’t have any local Gaps that carry maternity items, which is a huge bummer. Loft Maternity is only online, and sadly they charge for shipping and returns. But, they do have some really cute dresses right now.  So I decided to snag a few during a recent 40% off promotion.

As you can see, I haven’t purchased any maternity tops. So far, I’ve just been going through all my current clothes to find tunics and button-ups that still fit. I also mix and match tanks with cardigans. I’m sure once I get into the 3rd trimester I’ll pick up a few tops.

On the pants, I think I’ve purchased everything I need to get me through until October. Well, unless I talk myself into needing/wearing black shorts - but for now these legs are staying under wraps. :) This spring Old Navy has been doing lots of promotions (20% off, super cash, etc.) so I haven’t had to pay full price for any of my pants. The one thing I will say is that I had to hem every pair of pants except the black cropped ones and the army green ones (they have a zipper at the ankle). So, when shopping - don’t discount a great pair of comfy and cute pants that don’t look quite right because of extra length. Altering can really make them look more expensive!

As always, thanks for reading! Please share any of your maternity must-have’s on our Facebook page! We’d love to hear them.

A Stripe Maxi + Colored Blazer - What L Wore @ 19 weeks!

imageHappy Tuesday Lovely Readers~

Today’s look features my outfit from last weekend (19 weeks). I can’t believe that I’m almost half way there!! The weather is warming up quickly, so it was a perfect time to pull out this striped maxi dress from Gap. I learned an easy styling trick from W last spring/summer (when she was in the 2nd and 3rd trimesters): when in doubt, add a colored blazer to your maxi! I’ve never been a big fan of the tank style dresses since my oh so fair bare arms aren’t on my top list of things to show off. So to get around this, plus make the outfit work appropriate, a 3/4 sleeve ponte blazer was the perfect solution. Next time I’m going to try cobalt blue.  As you readers know, I have a quite a collection of blazers - so there will be color combinations to try. I’m also having fun styling this Fiona Bib Necklace from Stella and Dot.  I wore it three times just last week!

Thanks for reading!

L’s DoubleTake on the Peplum Top: Colorblock Style

imageHello Lovely Readers!

Today’s look is one I wore a few weeks ago and features one my fave additions to my closet this spring: the perfect peplum.  As you may remember both W and I wore this top last month and had such a fun time styling it.  I wore it in MadMen style here and W mixed it up with a fun houndstooth print skirt here.  I kept it simple this go round with wearing a simple black pencil skirt and some of my gold jewelry staples. The outfit was complete with a stachel bag featuring bold gold hardware.  How are you wearing the peplum trend this spring?  We’d love to hear from you, so drop us a note on Instagram, Facebook, or in our comments section located below each post.

Happy Shopping!

Happy Monday!

This weekend was packed with lots of fun events: a wedding shower, landscaping our front yard, shopping at the J.Crew Factory 50% off sale…and a half marathon!  Needless to say, I’m a little pooped (well from the running/shopping, I can’t claim any of the work on the yard - shocker, I know). The race was a blast and the weather was picture perfect. I must give a special shout out to my college friends that also ran in the race: Carlie, Kara, Bailey and Claribel!  I also managed to convince my husband to run it with me. He did awesome, especially considering we didn’t train at all like we needed to and this was his first running event ever.  Check us out on Instagram if you want to see a few pics. :)

So today’s outfit pretty much sums up my normal take on style: chic, classic and comfy.  You can’t go wrong with nautical stripes paired with gold accessories, in my opinion.  I picked up the navy pleated skirt at a 40% off sale at The Limited a few weeks ago. It’s so comfy and already look forward to wearing it again. The outfit is topped off with my new Coach tote (“saffiano north/south city tote”) in this gorgeous tan shade that seems to go with ALL my spring outfits. It’s one of my fave purchases this season for sure. The price point is great too and makes it really affordable (especially with the 25% discount you can get for signing up your email address here).
