Hi There! It’s W here to talk about one of my all time favorite color pairings: black and white. But before you start to sigh and think to yourself “W, that’s nothing new” – I must share my two tips for livening up the classic black on white combo.
1) Rather than just keeping it with these two simple shades, add in a vibrant splash of color. For this particular outfit, I decided to throw in some of my new spring pieces purchased at Loft and The Limited. Lime is one of my all time favorites to mix with black and white patterns. I’ve added this extra dimension with the Loft lime green tank, accompanied by a clear chunky necklace (lime threading, although it’s hard to see) and a fabulous lime bangle bracelet.
2) Create a level of interest by adding a layering piece in an unexpected fabric or texture. For my outfit today, this was created with a cropped leather jacket featuring embroidery at the shoulders and zippers at the pockets and sleeves. Side note: If you are looking for a fun jacket to go with an array of outfits over many seasons, a “glamourfied” version of the standard motorcycle jacket is always a great investment.
So now that I’ve provided some thoughts on how to jazz up classic black and white combos, get out there and add in some color!
