Surprise!! Lindsay is expecting baby #2!

Hello Friends!

We are SO excited to share that we are expecting baby #2 early this October! I’m so happy to finally share the baby news with you all! It’s seems like we’ve been waiting so long for the right time and I’m so thankful to be in the 2nd trimester now.

We can’t wait to be a family of 4 four this fall! My sweet little girl is over the moon to be a big sister too!!

I shared some pregnancy posts and maternity style with my daughter in the early days of the blog (circa 2013) and even some maternity outfits. Blogging and social media has changed a lot over the years and as you all may have noticed that we have personally chosen not to share family photos for privacy reasons.

These may actually be the first family photos I’ve ever posted! I wanted a chance to open up to you all a little more about me as a mom and more behind the scenes of just being Lindsay from The Double Take Girls style blog. 🙂

How We Found Out

We found out fairly early in February, and I of course told my husband as soon as he got home from work that day. I handed him a little gift sack with a pink shirt inside that said “big sister”. He honestly acted like he was in shock lol. He was thrilled but cautiously happy since of my thyroid health and circulation issues and being a high-risk pregnancy. I also called my doctor right away since I have Hashimoto’s disease and PCOS.

Thankfully my progesterone levels came back great! My endocrinologist wanted to change my thyroid medication right away to one she felt was safer for pregnancy. My levels responded well the first 4 weeks, but my last round of labs weren’t within the goal so I’m praying this last medication adjustment will take effect quickly. I am currently seeing my regular OB and high risk doctor, and running labs every 3-4 weeks.

I do have to be honest that one of the reasons for the space between my daughter and the new baby is dealing with thyroid disease and worrying about how pregnancy and delivery will go. I never felt that my health was optimal like it was with her pregnancy. But, I am choosing to trust God everyday for my health needs and the safety of our new baby.

My Pregnancy So Far

Now at 17 weeks I’m feeling much better. I don’t seem to experience morning sickness in my pregnancies thankfully, but struggle with extreme fatigue, some heartburn, and bloating. I also had weeks of pregnancy rhinitis (aka constant allergy symptoms from pregnancy hormones). During parts of February and March I would sneeze all day long! In regards to energy, my iron levels are staying normal so that is good. So, I’m hoping the fatigue subsides soon! I sometimes am afraid I’ll fall asleep driving so I try to strategize my errands on times I feel most awake.

I’m definitely looking forward to getting back to my regular workout routine soon, too! Cravings wise, I haven’t had anything specific minus wanting a taco or hamburger on a random day, and of course any fruit always sounds good. I did have a huge increase in appetite the first weeks, but it seems to be settling now. I haven’t had any food aversions this time around, so I’ve been able to keep up a variety of meals and snacks.

How We Told Our Families

We shared the news with our daughter at the same time we told our families! It was so cute… yet I don’t think she really understood until the next day lol. Once she realized that is was getting a baby brother or sister, that is all she could talk about!

I ordered an adorable “big sister” two piece outfit for my daughter to wear when we went over to my parents and in-laws homes to share the news. They of course were over the moon once they realized the message on the shirt! They’ve been patiently waiting for us to share the news so they can tell all their friends. 🙂

Future Updates

We are so thankful for this little blessing on the way! Working at my old pace has been a challenge. Besides the blog full-time, I also am a college nutrition instructor and teach 9 credit hours a semester. You all may have noticed I slowed down on outfit try ons. I don’t know how pregnant bloggers keep this up in the early days, it so hard to get dressed over and over, ha! But I do I hope to get back to those soon!

My amazing sister has been so thoughtful to take on all the extra work behind the scenes on projects and deadlines that I wasn’t able to meet during the first trimester. I do plan to continue wearing non-maternity items when possible (just a size up) so I can keep featuring all the things you all love to shop. But, I will also incorporate some maternity outfits and reviews for those of you who may be expecting too. Thankfully LOFT and Old Navy have great style available in both regular and maternity options, yay!

Last but not least, I know I’ll receive questions about if we will find out if we are having a boy or girl. And yes, we are definitely not waiting for a surprise. I’m too much of a planner for that. Plus, we’ve been using all the girl hand me downs from my sister’s two girls the last 5+ years. If it’s a boy, I’m going go have to start getting busy with a list of all the things we need.

We can’t wait to find out and share the news with you all on Mother’s Day!!

Thank you so much for stopping by today for our family celebration!

xx,

Lindsay
